Communication
Please check our class Twitter pages for regular updates and photographs about what we have been doing in class!

Please use your child’s planner as a means of communication between home and school. We are interested in hearing about any achievements that your child has had, whether this be with their reading or out of school hobby! We want to be able to celebrate every success both in and out of school. If you want to discuss something with us face to face, please do not hesitate to arrange a time to see us.
We also use Seesaw as a means of communication and, sometimes, for homework.
Please ensure that you have both the child and parent logins.
PE day
PE day for the Y5/6 classes is on Monday. The children come into school in their PE kit when it is their PE day.
Year 6 SATs
Please see the SATs Guides page under the Parents' tab.
There is a 2023 timetable and videos to watch about the national tests.
The Y5/6 classes are mixed-age classes with some year 5 children and some year 6 children.
We have a 2 year rolling curriculum to ensure that the children cover new and interesting topics each year.
WW2: as part of this topic we combine work from Science and Design Technology to create a model of an Anderson shelter with a working electrical circuit. We create our own stew - taking rationing limitations into consideration, of course! We also carry out a local study in Geography looking at human Geography in Chorley since 1930 and complete work linked to the moving novel, 'Goodnight Mister Tom' by Michelle Magorian.
Geography of North America: after recapping on geography of the world (e.g. continents, countries, equator), we narrow in on North America to find out about its environmental regions, countries and major cities in more detail.
The Kingdom of Benin: we learn about the ancient Kingdom of Benin, including the location, finding out about some of the Obas (rulers), learning what contributed to Benin's Golden Age and the reasons that led to the decline of the Benin Kingdom.
All this and so much more!
